Fuel Change and Temperature Reduction
Thanks to an alliance with GASCO, we replaced fuel No. 5 with liquefied gas, significantly reducing atmospheric impact and complying with air quality standards. This resulted in an 89% decrease in particulate matter and a 99% decrease in sulfur dioxide (SOx) emissions. In addition, by incorporating cold water recirculation in the chimney, we were able to reduce the temperature of the gases and decrease both fuel use and emissions, helping to mitigate the greenhouse effect
Reducing water footprint
For us, it was essential to reduce water consumption and reuse this resource as much as possible. In this sense, we embarked on a solution that would have a greater impact on its proposal and thus managed to implement a water treatment plant that allows us to reuse 90% of what we use in our industrial processes and that in its last stage of filtration and UV system allows us to leave it even suitable for human consumption since any pathogenic microorganisms are eliminated.
In this way, we managed to reduce water discharges from the process, resulting in 190,000 m³ saved annually, a significant amount that in practical terms is equivalent to 56 Olympic swimming pools
